Summary of Bill S 1779

Bill 118 s 1779, also known as the Electric Motorcycle Parity Act of 2023, is a piece of legislation currently being considered by the US Congress. The main goal of this bill is to promote the use of electric motorcycles by providing incentives and support for their production and purchase.

One of the key provisions of the Electric Motorcycle Parity Act is the establishment of a federal tax credit for the purchase of electric motorcycles. This tax credit would help offset the higher upfront costs of electric motorcycles compared to traditional gas-powered motorcycles, making them more affordable for consumers.

Additionally, the bill includes provisions for the development of infrastructure to support electric motorcycles, such as charging stations and maintenance facilities. This infrastructure would help address one of the main barriers to widespread adoption of electric motorcycles – the lack of charging options for riders. The Electric Motorcycle Parity Act also aims to promote research and development in the electric motorcycle industry, with a focus on improving battery technology and increasing the range of electric motorcycles. By investing in innovation, the bill seeks to make electric motorcycles more competitive with traditional motorcycles in terms of performance and convenience. Overall, the Electric Motorcycle Parity Act of 2023 is a comprehensive piece of legislation that aims to support the growth of the electric motorcycle industry in the United States. By providing incentives for consumers, developing infrastructure, and promoting research and development, this bill seeks to make electric motorcycles a more viable and attractive option for riders across the country.
