Summary of Bill S 1573
Bill 118 s 1573, also known as the PREEMIE Reauthorization Act of 2023, is a piece of legislation currently being considered by the US Congress. The bill aims to reauthorize and improve upon the Prematurity Research Expansion and Education for Mothers who deliver Infants Early (PREEMIE) Act, which was originally passed in 2006.
The PREEMIE Reauthorization Act of 2023 seeks to continue funding for research and programs aimed at reducing preterm birth rates and improving outcomes for premature infants. The bill includes provisions to support research on the causes of preterm birth, as well as efforts to develop new treatments and interventions to improve the health of premature babies.
Additionally, the bill includes measures to enhance education and outreach efforts to raise awareness about the risks of preterm birth and the importance of prenatal care. It also includes provisions to improve data collection and reporting on preterm birth rates, in order to better understand the scope of the problem and track progress in reducing preterm birth rates. Overall, the PREEMIE Reauthorization Act of 2023 aims to build upon the successes of the original PREEMIE Act and continue the fight against preterm birth in the United States. It represents a bipartisan effort to support research, education, and outreach efforts to improve outcomes for premature infants and their families.
