Summary of Bill S 1349
The College Transparency Act, also known as Bill 118 s 1349, is a piece of legislation currently being considered by the US Congress. The main goal of this bill is to improve the transparency of information regarding college and university outcomes for students and families.
The College Transparency Act would create a secure, privacy-protected postsecondary student data system that would track student outcomes such as completion rates, employment outcomes, and earnings after graduation. This data would be made available to the public in a user-friendly format, allowing students and families to make more informed decisions about which colleges and universities to attend.
The bill also aims to streamline the reporting requirements for colleges and universities, reducing the burden on institutions while still providing valuable information to students and policymakers. Additionally, the College Transparency Act includes provisions to protect student privacy and ensure that the data collected is used responsibly. Overall, the College Transparency Act seeks to provide students and families with better information about the outcomes of different colleges and universities, ultimately helping them make more informed decisions about their higher education options.
