Summary of Bill S 1192
Bill 118 s 1192, also known as the Stop Fentanyl Border Crossings Act, is a piece of legislation introduced in the US Congress with the aim of combating the illegal trafficking of fentanyl across the US-Mexico border. Fentanyl is a powerful synthetic opioid that has been responsible for a significant number of overdose deaths in the United States in recent years.
The bill proposes several measures to address the issue of fentanyl smuggling, including increasing funding for border security and law enforcement agencies to better detect and intercept fentanyl shipments. It also calls for the implementation of new technologies and strategies to improve border surveillance and intelligence gathering.
Additionally, the Stop Fentanyl Border Crossings Act seeks to enhance cooperation and information sharing between US and Mexican authorities in order to more effectively target and dismantle fentanyl trafficking networks. The bill also includes provisions for increasing penalties for individuals caught smuggling fentanyl across the border. Overall, the Stop Fentanyl Border Crossings Act aims to strengthen border security and law enforcement efforts in order to prevent the flow of fentanyl into the United States and reduce the devastating impact of this dangerous drug on communities across the country.
