Summary of Bill HR 9799
Bill 118 hr 9799, also known as the Overtime Pay Tax Relief Act of 2024, is a piece of legislation currently being considered by the US Congress. The main purpose of this bill is to provide tax relief to individuals who receive overtime pay.
Under the provisions of the Overtime Pay Tax Relief Act, individuals who earn overtime pay would be eligible for a tax credit equal to a certain percentage of the overtime pay they receive. This tax credit would help to offset the additional taxes that individuals may owe on their overtime earnings.
The bill also includes provisions to simplify the process of claiming the tax credit for overtime pay. It would require employers to provide employees with a statement detailing the amount of overtime pay they have received during the tax year, making it easier for individuals to accurately report their earnings and claim the tax credit. Overall, the Overtime Pay Tax Relief Act of 2024 aims to provide financial relief to individuals who work overtime hours and earn additional income. By offering a tax credit for overtime pay and streamlining the process for claiming this credit, the bill seeks to support workers who put in extra hours on the job.
