HEALING Response Act of 2023

2/5/2024, 2:30 PM

Summary of Bill HR 3703

The HEALING Response Act of 2023, also known as Bill 118 hr 3703, is a piece of legislation introduced in the US Congress aimed at addressing the mental health crisis in the country. The bill focuses on providing resources and support for individuals struggling with mental health issues, as well as improving access to mental health services.

One key aspect of the HEALING Response Act is the establishment of a national mental health hotline, which would provide 24/7 support and resources for individuals in crisis. This hotline would be staffed by trained professionals who can offer immediate assistance and referrals to mental health services.

Additionally, the bill includes provisions for expanding mental health services in schools and communities, with a focus on early intervention and prevention. This includes funding for mental health education programs, training for school staff, and increased access to mental health professionals in underserved areas. The HEALING Response Act also addresses the issue of mental health parity, ensuring that insurance companies cover mental health services at the same level as physical health services. This is aimed at reducing barriers to accessing mental health care and ensuring that individuals receive the treatment they need. Overall, the HEALING Response Act of 2023 seeks to improve mental health outcomes for individuals across the country by increasing access to services, providing support in times of crisis, and promoting mental health education and awareness.
