12/15/2023, 3:58 PM
Summary of Bill HR 3504
Bill 118 hr 3504, also known as the VA Medical Center Security Report Act of 2023, is a piece of legislation introduced in the US Congress with the aim of improving security measures at Veterans Affairs (VA) medical centers across the country. The bill requires the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to submit an annual report to Congress detailing the security measures in place at each VA medical center, as well as any incidents of violence or threats that have occurred at these facilities.
The report must include information on the number of security personnel employed at each VA medical center, the types of security equipment and technology used, and any training programs in place to prepare staff for potential security threats. Additionally, the report must outline any incidents of violence or threats that have occurred at VA medical centers during the previous year, including details on the nature of the incident, the response from security personnel, and any measures taken to prevent similar incidents in the future.
The goal of this legislation is to ensure that VA medical centers are adequately prepared to handle security threats and protect the safety of both patients and staff. By requiring annual reports on security measures and incidents, Congress can hold the VA accountable for maintaining a safe and secure environment for those who rely on these facilities for their healthcare needs.
