12/15/2023, 3:58 PM

Summary of Bill HR 3473

Bill 118 hr 3473, also known as the Bicycle Commuter Act of 2023, aims to promote and incentivize bicycle commuting in the United States. The bill proposes several key provisions to encourage more people to use bicycles as a mode of transportation.

One of the main components of the bill is the establishment of a tax credit for bicycle commuters. Under this provision, individuals who regularly commute to work by bicycle would be eligible for a tax credit to help offset the costs associated with biking, such as purchasing a bike, maintenance, and equipment. This tax credit is intended to make biking a more affordable and attractive option for commuters.

Additionally, the bill includes funding for the development of bike infrastructure, such as bike lanes, bike racks, and bike-sharing programs. By investing in bike-friendly infrastructure, the bill aims to make biking safer and more convenient for commuters. Furthermore, the bill proposes the creation of a national campaign to promote bicycle commuting and raise awareness about the benefits of biking. This campaign would educate the public about the environmental, health, and economic advantages of choosing biking over driving. Overall, the Bicycle Commuter Act of 2023 seeks to encourage more people to use bicycles as a sustainable and healthy mode of transportation. By providing tax incentives, funding for infrastructure, and promoting awareness, the bill aims to make biking a more viable option for commuters across the country.
