Summary of Bill HR 3065

Bill 118 HR 3065, also known as the School Access to Naloxone Act of 2023, is a piece of legislation introduced in the US Congress with the aim of increasing access to naloxone in schools. Naloxone is a medication used to reverse the effects of opioid overdose, and this bill seeks to ensure that schools have this life-saving medication readily available in case of emergencies.

The bill mandates that schools that receive federal funding must have naloxone on hand and train staff members on how to administer the medication. It also provides funding for schools to purchase naloxone and receive training on its use. Additionally, the bill encourages schools to develop policies and procedures for responding to opioid overdoses and educating students on the dangers of opioid use.

The School Access to Naloxone Act of 2023 aims to address the growing opioid crisis in the United States by ensuring that schools are equipped to respond to overdoses and potentially save lives. By increasing access to naloxone and providing training to school staff, this legislation seeks to protect students and staff members from the devastating effects of opioid overdose.
