Summary of Bill HR 2984
The CLAIM Act, also known as Bill 118 hr 2984, is a piece of legislation currently being considered by the US Congress. The purpose of this bill is to address issues related to medical malpractice and liability insurance for healthcare providers.
The CLAIM Act aims to establish a national medical liability insurance program that would provide coverage for healthcare providers who are sued for malpractice. This program would be funded through a combination of federal and state contributions, as well as premiums paid by healthcare providers.
Additionally, the CLAIM Act includes provisions to streamline the process for resolving medical malpractice claims, including the establishment of a national database to track and analyze malpractice claims. This database would help identify trends and patterns in malpractice claims, which could inform efforts to improve patient safety and reduce the incidence of malpractice. Overall, the CLAIM Act seeks to address the challenges faced by healthcare providers in obtaining affordable liability insurance coverage, while also promoting accountability and transparency in the handling of medical malpractice claims. It is currently under review in Congress, where lawmakers are considering its potential impact on the healthcare industry and patient care.
