Summary of Bill HR 2844
Bill 118 hr 2844, also known as the Transparency of Migration Act, is a piece of legislation currently being considered by the US Congress. The main goal of this bill is to increase transparency and accountability in the immigration system.
One of the key provisions of the Transparency of Migration Act is the requirement for the Department of Homeland Security to provide regular reports to Congress on the number of individuals entering and leaving the country. These reports would include information on the legal status of these individuals, as well as any criminal history they may have.
Additionally, the bill calls for the establishment of a public database that would allow individuals to easily access information on immigration enforcement actions, such as deportations and detentions. This database would also include data on the number of visas issued and the countries of origin of immigrants. The Transparency of Migration Act also includes measures to improve the efficiency of the immigration system, such as streamlining the visa application process and increasing resources for border security. Overall, the Transparency of Migration Act aims to provide greater transparency and accountability in the immigration system, while also working to improve the efficiency of the process. It is currently being debated in Congress, and its future remains uncertain.
