Summary of Bill HR 2734
Bill 118 hr 2734, also known as the Ocean Acidification Research Partnerships Act, is a piece of legislation introduced in the US Congress. The main goal of this bill is to address the issue of ocean acidification, which is a growing concern due to the increasing levels of carbon dioxide being absorbed by the world's oceans.
The bill proposes the establishment of a research program that will focus on studying the effects of ocean acidification on marine ecosystems and the potential impacts on coastal communities. This program will be carried out through partnerships between federal agencies, academic institutions, and other stakeholders in order to promote collaboration and information sharing.
Additionally, the bill calls for the development of a strategic plan to guide research efforts and prioritize areas of study. This plan will also include recommendations for addressing the impacts of ocean acidification on vulnerable species and ecosystems. Overall, the Ocean Acidification Research Partnerships Act aims to increase our understanding of this pressing environmental issue and develop strategies to mitigate its effects. By fostering collaboration and research efforts, this bill seeks to protect marine ecosystems and coastal communities from the harmful effects of ocean acidification.
