12/12/2023, 8:15 AM
Summary of Bill HR 1801
The SAFEGUARD Act of 2023, also known as Bill 118 hr 1801, is a piece of legislation introduced in the US Congress aimed at enhancing national security measures. The main goal of the bill is to strengthen the country's defenses against potential threats, both domestic and foreign.
One key provision of the SAFEGUARD Act is the allocation of additional funding for the Department of Homeland Security to improve border security and enhance the screening of individuals entering the country. This includes increasing the number of border patrol agents and implementing new technologies to detect and prevent illegal immigration.
Another important aspect of the bill is the establishment of a national database for tracking and monitoring individuals who may pose a threat to national security. This database would be used by law enforcement agencies to share information and coordinate efforts to prevent potential terrorist attacks. Additionally, the SAFEGUARD Act includes measures to enhance cybersecurity protections for critical infrastructure, such as power plants, water treatment facilities, and transportation systems. This includes requiring companies to report cyber incidents to the government and implementing new standards for securing sensitive information. Overall, the SAFEGUARD Act of 2023 aims to strengthen the country's defenses against a wide range of threats, from terrorism to cyber attacks. By increasing funding for border security, establishing a national security database, and enhancing cybersecurity protections, the bill seeks to safeguard the nation and its citizens from potential harm.
