Summary of Bill HR 1764
Bill 118 HR 1764, also known as the Military Food Security Act of 2023, aims to address food insecurity among members of the military and their families. The bill recognizes that many service members struggle to afford nutritious food for themselves and their loved ones, despite their dedication and sacrifice to the country.
The key provisions of the bill include:
1. Establishing a program to provide financial assistance to military families who are experiencing food insecurity. This assistance would help cover the cost of groceries and ensure that service members and their families have access to healthy and nutritious food. 2. Increasing funding for on-base food pantries and other food assistance programs for military families. This would help ensure that no service member or their family goes hungry while serving their country. 3. Conducting a study to assess the extent of food insecurity among military families and identify potential solutions to address this issue in the long term. Overall, the Military Food Security Act of 2023 aims to support the well-being of military families by ensuring they have access to the food they need to thrive. By addressing food insecurity among service members, the bill seeks to honor their service and sacrifice by providing them with the support they deserve.
