Summary of Bill HR 148
The JUSTICE Act of 2023, also known as Bill 118 hr 148, is a piece of legislation introduced in the US Congress aimed at addressing issues related to criminal justice reform. The bill focuses on improving police training and accountability, as well as promoting community policing efforts.
One key aspect of the JUSTICE Act is the establishment of a national database to track the use of force by law enforcement officers. This database would help identify patterns of excessive force and hold officers accountable for their actions. Additionally, the bill includes provisions for de-escalation training for police officers and incentives for departments to adopt body cameras.
The JUSTICE Act also seeks to address issues of racial bias in policing by promoting diversity within law enforcement agencies and implementing measures to prevent racial profiling. The bill includes funding for community policing programs and initiatives to build trust between law enforcement and the communities they serve. Overall, the JUSTICE Act of 2023 aims to improve transparency and accountability within law enforcement while also promoting positive relationships between police officers and the communities they serve. It is a bipartisan effort to address the complex issues surrounding criminal justice reform in the United States.
