Summary of Bill HR 1339

The Precision Agriculture Satellite Connectivity Act, also known as Bill 118 hr 1339, is a piece of legislation introduced in the US Congress. The main goal of this bill is to improve access to broadband internet in rural areas in order to support precision agriculture practices.

Precision agriculture is a farming technique that uses technology such as GPS, sensors, and data analytics to optimize crop yields and reduce waste. However, many farmers in rural areas lack access to reliable high-speed internet, which is essential for implementing these advanced farming practices.

The Precision Agriculture Satellite Connectivity Act aims to address this issue by directing the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to establish a task force to identify and address the connectivity needs of precision agriculture. The task force will work with stakeholders in the agriculture and technology industries to develop recommendations for improving broadband access in rural areas. Additionally, the bill calls for the FCC to prioritize funding for broadband projects that support precision agriculture and to coordinate with other federal agencies to streamline the permitting process for deploying broadband infrastructure in rural areas. Overall, the Precision Agriculture Satellite Connectivity Act seeks to bridge the digital divide in rural America and support the adoption of advanced farming techniques that can increase productivity and sustainability in the agriculture industry.
