Budget Process Enhancement Act
12/15/2023, 3:53 PM
Summary of Bill HR 111
Bill 118 hr 111, also known as the Budget Process Enhancement Act, is a piece of legislation currently being considered by the US Congress. The main goal of this bill is to improve the budgeting process within the federal government.
One key aspect of the Budget Process Enhancement Act is the establishment of a biennial budgeting system. This means that instead of creating a new budget every year, Congress would create a budget for a two-year period. Proponents of this system argue that it would provide more stability and predictability in government spending.
Another important provision of the bill is the requirement for Congress to pass a budget resolution by April 15th of each year. This would help ensure that the budgeting process is completed in a timely manner and prevent the need for continuing resolutions or government shutdowns. Additionally, the Budget Process Enhancement Act includes measures to improve transparency and accountability in the budgeting process. This includes requiring agencies to provide more detailed justifications for their budget requests and increasing oversight of how taxpayer dollars are being spent. Overall, the Budget Process Enhancement Act aims to streamline the budgeting process, increase efficiency, and promote responsible fiscal management within the federal government. It is currently being debated in Congress and may undergo changes before being voted on.
