12/19/2024, 9:06 AM
Summary of Bill HR 10234
Bill 118 hr 10234, also known as the Aquatic Invasive Species Prevention Act, aims to give the Secretary of the Interior and the Secretary of Agriculture the authority to take action to prevent the spread of aquatic invasive species on Federal land and waters. This includes implementing measures to control the movement of these species into, across, and out of these areas.
The bill also includes provisions for providing financial assistance to Reclamation States for the establishment of watercraft inspection and decontamination stations. These stations would help prevent the spread of aquatic invasive species by inspecting and cleaning watercraft before they enter or leave Federal land and waters.
Additionally, the bill proposes amendments to the Nonindigenous Aquatic Nuisance Prevention and Control Act of 1990 to address technical corrections and improve the effectiveness of efforts to prevent the introduction and spread of aquatic invasive species. Overall, the Aquatic Invasive Species Prevention Act aims to protect the environment and native species by controlling the spread of harmful aquatic invasive species on Federal land and waters.
