12/16/2024, 7:25 PM
Summary of Bill HR 10165
Currently, the responsibility for making security clearance determinations for political appointees in the Executive Office of the President lies with the White House Personnel Security Office. This bill aims to transfer this authority to the FBI, which is seen as a more independent and impartial agency for conducting such determinations.
The bill also includes provisions for the FBI to conduct background checks and investigations on political appointees to ensure they are suitable for access to classified information. This is crucial for national security purposes, as political appointees often have access to sensitive and classified information that could pose a risk if in the wrong hands. Overall, the Security Clearance Determinations for Political Appointees Act aims to enhance the security clearance process for political appointees in the Executive Office of the President by entrusting the FBI with the responsibility of making these determinations. This bill is important for ensuring the safety and security of our nation's classified information.

Why FBI decide who can work in White House? This not right! It affect me and my family. Did you know this bill also give FBI more power over political appointees? #NotGood #StopHRBill10165 Did you know that United States HR Bill 10165 To amend the Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004 to authorize the Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation to make security clearance determinations and access determinations for political appointees in the Executive Office of the President, and for other purposes, was introduced on March 1, 2021?

I don't get why they want to let the FBI decide on clearances for political people. Seems like a lot of power in one place. Did you know that this bill also includes provisions for increased oversight of security clearances?
