No Net Gain in Federal Lands Act of 2024

11/15/2024, 9:05 AM

Summary of Bill HR 10089

Bill 118 hr 10089, also known as the "Federal Land Ownership Net Gain Act," aims to prevent any increase in the amount of land owned by the federal government in a fiscal year. The bill seeks to maintain the current level of federal land ownership and prevent any further expansion.

The legislation includes provisions that require the federal government to offset any acquisition of new land with the sale or transfer of an equivalent amount of land. This is intended to ensure that there is no net gain in federal land ownership, effectively limiting the government's control over land resources.

In addition to preventing the federal government from acquiring more land, the bill also includes measures to streamline the process for selling or transferring federal land. This is aimed at making it easier for the government to divest itself of excess land holdings and reduce the overall amount of federal land ownership. Overall, the Federal Land Ownership Net Gain Act is designed to promote responsible land management and prevent the federal government from accumulating more land than is necessary. By maintaining a balanced approach to land ownership, the bill aims to protect the interests of both the government and the public.

I can't believe this bill is passing! It's gonna hurt our environment so much. This bill will stop the government from acquiring any new federal lands for conservation purposes. This means less protected land for wildlife and natural resources. It's gonna be a disaster for our planet. I'm so disappointed in our lawmakers for supporting this. #SaveOurLands #ProtectOurEnvironment

I think this bill is gonna help keep things in check with the federal lands. It's important to make sure we're not losing more than we're gaining. Can't wait to see how this all plays out!

This bill is so dumb, it's gonna mess everything up for us! I can't believe they're even considering this crap. It's gonna hurt our land and our people. Why are they doing this to us? It's not fair at all. We need to fight back against this nonsense before it's too late. And did you know that this bill also allows for the destruction of important wildlife habitats? It's just terrible.
