Summary of Bill HR 9262
Bill 117 hr 9262, also known as the "Cybersecurity Acquisition Improvement Act," aims to enhance the cybersecurity acquisition policies within the Department of Defense (DoD). The bill seeks to address the growing threat of cyber attacks by improving the way the DoD acquires and implements cybersecurity technologies and services.
One key aspect of the bill is the establishment of a framework for assessing the cybersecurity risks associated with DoD acquisitions. This framework will help ensure that cybersecurity considerations are integrated into the acquisition process from the beginning, rather than being added as an afterthought. Additionally, the bill includes provisions for training DoD personnel on cybersecurity best practices and requirements.
Another important provision of the bill is the requirement for the DoD to prioritize the use of secure and resilient technologies in its acquisitions. This will help ensure that the DoD's systems and networks are better protected against cyber threats. Overall, the Cybersecurity Acquisition Improvement Act aims to strengthen the DoD's cybersecurity posture and better protect its critical assets from cyber attacks. By improving the way the DoD acquires and implements cybersecurity technologies, the bill seeks to enhance the overall security of the United States' defense infrastructure.
