No Federal Funds for Ballot Harvesting Act
12/29/2022, 5:03 PM
Summary of Bill HR 7958
Bill 117 HR 7958, also known as the No Federal Funds for Ballot Harvesting Act, is a piece of legislation introduced in the US Congress. The main purpose of this bill is to prohibit the use of federal funds for ballot harvesting activities.
Ballot harvesting is the practice of collecting and submitting completed ballots on behalf of voters. While supporters argue that it helps increase voter turnout, critics have raised concerns about potential fraud and coercion.
If passed, this bill would prevent any federal funds from being used to support ballot harvesting efforts. This would apply to any federal agency or program that provides funding for election-related activities. Proponents of the bill argue that it is necessary to protect the integrity of the voting process and prevent any potential abuse of the system. They believe that allowing federal funds to be used for ballot harvesting could undermine the trust and confidence in the electoral process. Opponents of the bill, on the other hand, argue that it could disproportionately impact certain communities, such as elderly or disabled voters, who may rely on ballot harvesting services to participate in elections. Overall, the No Federal Funds for Ballot Harvesting Act is a controversial piece of legislation that raises important questions about the balance between ensuring election integrity and protecting access to the voting process. It is currently being debated in Congress, and its ultimate fate remains uncertain.
