Summary of Bill HR 7271
Bill 117 hr 7271, also known as the Putting Gas Money Back In Your Pocket Act, is a piece of legislation introduced in the US Congress. The main goal of this bill is to provide relief to American consumers who are facing high gas prices.
The bill proposes to temporarily suspend the federal gas tax, which is currently set at 18.4 cents per gallon for gasoline and 24.4 cents per gallon for diesel fuel. This suspension would last for a period of three months, during which time consumers would see a reduction in the cost of filling up their vehicles at the pump.
In addition to the suspension of the gas tax, the bill also includes provisions to provide financial assistance to low-income individuals and families who may be struggling to afford the rising cost of gas. This assistance would be in the form of direct payments or tax credits to help offset the increased expenses associated with higher gas prices. Overall, the Putting Gas Money Back In Your Pocket Act aims to provide immediate relief to American consumers who are feeling the financial strain of high gas prices. By temporarily suspending the federal gas tax and providing assistance to those in need, this bill seeks to alleviate some of the economic burden that many individuals and families are currently facing.
