Summary of Bill HR 6350

Bill 117 HR 6350, also known as the Rescuing Every Contributor from Unwanted Recurrences (RECUR) Act, aims to address the issue of recurring contributions made by individuals to political campaigns without their explicit consent. The bill seeks to protect donors from unintentionally making multiple contributions to a political campaign or organization.

The RECUR Act requires political campaigns and organizations to obtain explicit consent from donors before processing recurring contributions. This means that donors must actively opt-in to making recurring contributions, rather than having them automatically deducted from their accounts. The bill also mandates that campaigns and organizations provide clear and easily accessible information about how to cancel recurring contributions.

Additionally, the RECUR Act requires campaigns and organizations to provide donors with regular notifications about their recurring contributions, including the amount and frequency of the donations. This transparency is intended to ensure that donors are aware of and in control of their financial contributions. Overall, the RECUR Act aims to protect donors from unknowingly making recurring contributions to political campaigns and organizations. By requiring explicit consent, clear information, and regular notifications, the bill seeks to empower donors and promote transparency in the political fundraising process.
