4/17/2024, 11:44 PM
Summary of Bill HR 6199
Bill 117 hr 6199, also known as the Ste. Genevieve National Historical Park Boundary Revision Act, is a piece of legislation that aims to revise the boundaries of the Ste. Genevieve National Historical Park in Missouri. The bill was introduced in the House of Representatives on September 22, 2021, by Representative Jason Smith.
The Ste. Genevieve National Historical Park was established in 2018 to preserve and protect the historic resources of the town of Ste. Genevieve, which is one of the oldest settlements west of the Mississippi River. The park currently encompasses approximately 13 acres of land, but the proposed boundary revision would expand the park to include additional historic properties and structures in the town.
The bill specifies that the boundary revision would include properties that are deemed to be historically significant and contribute to the overall interpretation and understanding of the town's history. The expansion of the park would allow for greater protection and preservation of these important cultural resources. Overall, the Ste. Genevieve National Historical Park Boundary Revision Act seeks to enhance the preservation and interpretation of the historic resources in Ste. Genevieve, Missouri, by expanding the boundaries of the national park. The bill is currently under consideration in the House of Representatives and has not yet been enacted into law.
