12/30/2022, 8:18 AM
Summary of Bill HR 6058
Bill 117 HR 6058, also known as the PFAS Health Study Act of 2021, is a piece of legislation introduced in the US Congress. The bill aims to address the issue of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), which are a group of man-made chemicals that have been linked to various health concerns.
The PFAS Health Study Act of 2021 proposes the establishment of a comprehensive health study to examine the potential health effects of PFAS exposure on communities across the United States. The study would be conducted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR).
The bill also calls for the creation of a national database to track PFAS exposure levels and health outcomes in affected communities. This database would help researchers and policymakers better understand the scope of the issue and develop targeted interventions to address it. Additionally, the PFAS Health Study Act of 2021 includes provisions to ensure that the study is conducted in a transparent and inclusive manner, with input from affected communities and stakeholders. The bill also allocates funding for the study and database, as well as for outreach and education efforts to raise awareness about PFAS and its potential health impacts. Overall, the PFAS Health Study Act of 2021 represents a bipartisan effort to address the growing concern over PFAS contamination and its impact on public health. By conducting a comprehensive health study and establishing a national database, this bill aims to provide valuable information to help protect communities from the harmful effects of PFAS exposure.
