12/31/2022, 5:03 AM
Summary of Bill HR 4896
Bill 117 HR 4896, also known as the Reimbursing Agricultural Producers for Immigration Damages Act, aims to provide financial compensation to agricultural producers who have experienced damages as a result of immigration-related activities on their properties. The bill recognizes the significant impact that immigration enforcement and border security measures can have on the agricultural industry, particularly in terms of crop damage, property destruction, and financial losses.
Under this legislation, agricultural producers who can demonstrate that they have suffered damages due to immigration-related activities, such as border crossings, law enforcement actions, or migrant worker issues, may be eligible to receive reimbursement for their losses. The bill sets up a fund specifically designated for this purpose, which will be administered by the Department of Agriculture.
In order to qualify for reimbursement, agricultural producers must provide documentation of the damages they have incurred, including evidence of the cause of the damages and the financial impact on their operations. The bill also includes provisions for the establishment of a process for filing claims, determining eligibility, and disbursing funds to eligible producers. Overall, the Reimbursing Agricultural Producers for Immigration Damages Act seeks to address the challenges faced by agricultural producers who are impacted by immigration-related activities, providing them with much-needed financial support to help mitigate the losses they have experienced.
