Summary of Bill HR 4885

The JUDGES Act, also known as Bill 117 hr 4885, is a piece of legislation currently being considered by the US Congress. The main purpose of this bill is to increase the number of federal judgeships in various districts across the country. In addition to creating new judgeships, the bill also includes provisions for the temporary assignment of retired judges to help with the backlog of cases. This would provide additional resources to the federal judiciary and help expedite the resolution of cases. Overall, the JUDGES Act aims to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the federal court system by increasing the number of judges available to hear cases. This would ultimately benefit both the judiciary and the American people by ensuring that justice is served in a timely manner.
