Summary of Bill HR 4613

The American Grown Act, also known as Bill 117 hr 4613, is a piece of legislation currently being considered by the US Congress. The main goal of this bill is to promote and support American agriculture by requiring federal agencies to purchase domestically grown and produced agricultural products.

If passed, the American Grown Act would mandate that federal agencies prioritize the purchase of American-grown agricultural products for use in their programs and facilities. This would include products such as fruits, vegetables, meats, and dairy products that are produced in the United States.

Supporters of the bill argue that by prioritizing American-grown products, the federal government can help support local farmers and boost the domestic agricultural industry. They also believe that this will help ensure the safety and quality of the food being served in federal programs and facilities. Opponents of the bill, however, argue that it could lead to higher costs for federal agencies, as American-grown products may be more expensive than imported goods. They also raise concerns about the potential impact on international trade relationships and the availability of certain products that may not be grown or produced in the US. Overall, the American Grown Act is a piece of legislation aimed at promoting American agriculture and supporting local farmers. It is currently being debated in Congress, and its ultimate fate will depend on the outcome of these discussions.
