Summary of Bill HR 4462
Bill 117 HR 4462, also known as the Promoting Equitable Access to Paid Family Leave Act of 2021, aims to provide paid family leave to all workers in the United States. The bill seeks to address the lack of access to paid family leave for many Americans, particularly low-income workers and people of color.
Under the provisions of the bill, all workers would be entitled to up to 12 weeks of paid family leave to care for a new child, a seriously ill family member, or to address their own serious health condition. The bill also includes provisions for paid leave for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, or stalking.
The bill would be funded through a payroll tax on both employees and employers, with the goal of creating a sustainable and equitable system for providing paid family leave. The bill also includes provisions to ensure that small businesses are able to comply with the requirements of the law. Overall, the Promoting Equitable Access to Paid Family Leave Act of 2021 seeks to address the disparities in access to paid family leave in the United States and provide much-needed support to workers who need time off to care for themselves or their loved ones.
