Summary of Bill HR 4196
Bill 117 HR 4196, also known as the Restore the Rights of Property Owners under the Eviction Moratorium Issued by the CDC Act of 2021, aims to address the concerns of property owners who have been negatively impacted by the eviction moratorium put in place by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The bill seeks to restore the rights of property owners by allowing them to challenge the CDC's eviction moratorium in court. It also aims to provide compensation to property owners for any financial losses incurred as a result of the moratorium.
Additionally, the bill includes provisions to ensure that tenants who are unable to pay rent due to financial hardship caused by the pandemic are provided with assistance to help them avoid eviction. Overall, the goal of Bill 117 HR 4196 is to strike a balance between protecting the rights of property owners and ensuring that tenants are not unfairly evicted during these challenging times. It is currently being debated in Congress and has garnered support from both sides of the aisle.
