Bill 117 HR 3913, also known as the Renter Protection Act of 2021, is a piece of legislation introduced in the US Congress aimed at providing protections for renters across the country. The bill seeks to address issues related to housing affordability, eviction prevention, and tenant rights.
One of the key provisions of the Renter Protection Act is the establishment of a national rental assistance program to help low-income renters afford their housing costs. This program would provide financial assistance to eligible renters to help cover rent payments and prevent evictions.
Additionally, the bill includes measures to strengthen tenant protections, such as prohibiting landlords from evicting tenants without just cause and requiring landlords to provide adequate notice before raising rent or evicting tenants. The bill also includes provisions to improve the quality of rental housing, such as requiring landlords to maintain safe and habitable living conditions for their tenants. Overall, the Renter Protection Act of 2021 aims to address the challenges faced by renters in the United States and provide them with the necessary support and protections to ensure stable and affordable housing. The bill is currently being considered by Congress and has garnered support from advocates for affordable housing and tenant rights.
