12/30/2022, 5:47 PM

Summary of Bill HR 3809

Bill 117 HR 3809, also known as the Research Excellence through STEM Inclusion Act, aims to promote diversity and inclusion in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). The bill seeks to increase opportunities for underrepresented groups, such as women and minorities, to participate in STEM research and education.

One of the key provisions of the bill is the establishment of a grant program to support research projects that focus on increasing diversity and inclusion in STEM fields. These grants would be awarded to institutions of higher education, non-profit organizations, and other entities that are working to address the underrepresentation of certain groups in STEM.

Additionally, the bill calls for the creation of a task force to study and make recommendations on how to improve diversity and inclusion in STEM fields. This task force would be composed of experts in STEM education, workforce development, and diversity and inclusion. Overall, the Research Excellence through STEM Inclusion Act aims to address the lack of diversity in STEM fields and create more opportunities for underrepresented groups to succeed in these important areas of study. By promoting inclusivity and diversity, the bill seeks to ensure that all individuals have the opportunity to contribute to and benefit from advancements in science and technology.
