Broadband Competition and Efficient Deployment Act
1/11/2023, 1:47 PM
Summary of Bill HR 1141
Bill 117 HR 1141, also known as the Broadband Competition and Efficient Deployment Act, aims to promote competition and efficient deployment of broadband internet services across the United States. The bill focuses on several key areas to achieve this goal.
First, the bill seeks to streamline the process for broadband providers to deploy infrastructure, such as laying fiber optic cables or installing wireless towers. This would help to reduce the time and cost associated with expanding broadband networks, ultimately making it easier for more Americans to access high-speed internet.
Second, the bill aims to promote competition among broadband providers by removing barriers that may prevent new entrants from entering the market. This could lead to lower prices and better service options for consumers, as competition often drives companies to improve their offerings. Additionally, the bill includes provisions to ensure that federal funding for broadband deployment is used efficiently and effectively. This would help to maximize the impact of government investments in expanding internet access to underserved areas. Overall, the Broadband Competition and Efficient Deployment Act is designed to improve access to high-speed internet for all Americans, promote competition among broadband providers, and ensure that federal resources are used wisely to expand broadband infrastructure.
