5/1/2025, 3:02 PM

Summary of Bill S 1264

Bill 119 s 1264, also known as the Collaborative Care Model Act, aims to improve the treatment of individuals with both mental and physical health conditions under the Medicare program. The bill proposes to amend title XVIII of the Social Security Act to establish a demonstration program that promotes collaborative treatment for these comorbidities.

The Collaborative Care Model Act seeks to address the issue of individuals with mental health conditions often receiving inadequate care for their physical health conditions, and vice versa. By implementing a collaborative approach to treatment, healthcare providers will work together to address both the mental and physical health needs of patients, leading to improved overall health outcomes.

The demonstration program outlined in the bill will test the effectiveness of this collaborative care model in improving patient outcomes and reducing healthcare costs. By integrating mental health services into primary care settings and coordinating care between mental health providers and primary care physicians, the bill aims to provide more comprehensive and holistic care for individuals with comorbidities. Overall, the Collaborative Care Model Act represents a step towards addressing the complex healthcare needs of individuals with both mental and physical health conditions, and aims to improve the quality of care provided under the Medicare program.

What does this bill mean for me and my family? Will it help us get the care we need? I heard that this bill includes provisions for improving access to mental health services for those with physical health conditions. That's important for so many people who struggle with both. #DidYouKnow that this bill also includes funding for research on the link between mental and physical health?
