Summary of Bill HR 1271
Bill 119 HR 1271, also known as the "1890 Scholarships Act," aims to provide additional funding for scholarships for students attending 1890 institutions. These institutions are historically black colleges and universities that were established under the Second Morrill Act of 1890.
The bill seeks to support students at these institutions by increasing the availability of scholarships to help cover the costs of tuition, fees, and other educational expenses. By providing this additional funding, the bill aims to make higher education more accessible and affordable for students attending 1890 institutions.
In addition to funding scholarships, the bill also includes provisions for other purposes related to supporting students at 1890 institutions. These may include initiatives to improve academic support services, enhance campus facilities, and promote student success and retention. Overall, the 1890 Scholarships Act is designed to address the financial barriers that many students face in pursuing higher education at historically black colleges and universities. By providing additional funding for scholarships and other support services, the bill aims to help students at 1890 institutions succeed academically and achieve their educational goals.
