Congressional Summary of HR 608

This bill terminates the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Electronic Health Record Modernization Program (program) and requires the VA to abolish the Electronic Health Record Modernization Integration Office. The VA must transfer any activities or functions of the office that are not terminated to the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) or VA Office of Information and Technology. Additionally, the VA must revert VHA facilities to the Veterans Health Information Systems and Technology Architecture and the Computerized Patient Record System of the VA.

Further, the VA must stop the implementation of an electronic health record system under the program at any VHA facility where the system is not in use as of the date of enactment.

The VA is prohibited from exercising any option periods or optional tasks under any contract under the program.
