Summary of Bill HR 2141
Bill 117 HR 2141, also known as the Motorcyclist Advisory Council Reauthorization Act, is a piece of legislation that aims to reauthorize the Motorcyclist Advisory Council (MAC) within the Department of Transportation. The MAC was originally established in 2005 to advise the Secretary of Transportation on infrastructure issues that affect motorcyclists.
The bill seeks to extend the MAC's authorization for an additional five years, ensuring that the council continues to provide valuable input on matters such as highway design, construction, and maintenance that impact motorcyclists' safety. The MAC is composed of members representing various motorcycling organizations, safety advocates, and state and local governments.
The legislation also requires the MAC to submit a report to Congress every two years detailing its activities and recommendations. This report will help ensure transparency and accountability in the council's work. Overall, the Motorcyclist Advisory Council Reauthorization Act aims to promote the safety and well-being of motorcyclists by ensuring that their unique needs and concerns are taken into account in transportation planning and policy-making.
