Congressional Summary of HR 5404

Coordinating Efficiency in Nonprofit, State, and U.S. Resources Act or the CENSUS Resources Act

This bill directs the Government Accountability Office to report to Congress and the Department of Commerce one year after the 2020 decennial census regarding coordination between states, units of local government, the federal government, and nonprofit organizations in carrying out the census.

Specifically, such report shall (1) evaluate the level and quality of such cooperation, (2) identify any redundant use of funds, (3) identify best practices in such coordination, and (4) evaluate the effectiveness of such coordination in outreach to hard-to-count populations.
