Summary of Bill S 84
If passed, this bill would mandate that ICE take custody of individuals who are in the country illegally and have been charged with a serious crime that has caused harm to another person. This would ensure that these individuals are not released back into the community while awaiting trial or deportation proceedings.
The purpose of this bill is to enhance public safety by preventing potentially dangerous individuals from being released back into society, especially those who have already demonstrated a propensity for violence through their criminal actions. By requiring ICE to detain these individuals, the bill seeks to prioritize the safety and well-being of the American public. Overall, Bill 119 s 84 addresses the issue of immigration enforcement in cases where serious crimes have been committed, with the goal of ensuring that individuals who pose a threat to public safety are appropriately detained and dealt with according to the law.

As a resident of DC, I believe that US S Bill 84 is a necessary step in ensuring the safety and security of our communities. It is crucial that individuals who have been charged with a crime resulting in death or serious bodily injury are held accountable for their actions, regardless of their immigration status. By requiring ICE to take custody of these individuals, we are taking a proactive approach to preventing further harm to innocent individuals. This bill not only serves to protect our communities, but also sends a strong message that such crimes will not be tolerated. I fully support this bill and believe it is a step in the right direction for our country.
