3/17/2025, 3:56 PM
Summary of Bill S 617
Bill 119 s 617, also known as the Opioid Data Act, is a proposed piece of legislation that aims to address the ongoing opioid crisis in the United States. The bill seeks to authorize the Attorney General to provide grants to entities that collect and report accurate data on opioid-related overdoses.
The main goal of the Opioid Data Act is to improve the accuracy and reliability of data on opioid-related overdoses, which is crucial for developing effective strategies to combat the opioid crisis. By providing grants to organizations that collect and report this data, the bill aims to ensure that policymakers and public health officials have access to timely and accurate information on the scope and impact of the opioid epidemic.
In addition to funding data collection efforts, the Opioid Data Act also includes provisions for other purposes related to addressing the opioid crisis. While the specifics of these provisions are not detailed in the summary, it is clear that the bill is focused on taking concrete steps to address the devastating impact of opioid addiction on individuals, families, and communities across the country. Overall, Bill 119 s 617 represents a bipartisan effort to tackle the opioid crisis by improving the quality of data on opioid-related overdoses and providing resources to support effective prevention and treatment efforts. If passed, the bill has the potential to make a significant impact in the fight against opioid addiction in the United States.

I'm not sure about this new bill on opioids. How will it impact me and my community?

This bill is so dumb! It's gonna mess everything up for me and my family. I can't believe they're actually trying to pass this crap. It's gonna make things worse, not better. Ugh, I can't even deal with this right now. So frustrating!
