Purpose and Summary

Train Furtherance of Outstanding Onboard Dining Act or the Train FOOD Act

This bill directs Amtrak to establish an advisory committee to provide internal review for Amtrak's implementation of the Amtrak Food and Beverage Working Group (FBWG) recommendations to improve onboard food and beverage service.

The Amtrak advisory committee must submit an annual report to Congress on the status of Amtrak's implementation of each of the FBWG recommendations. The advisory committee's annual reports must be publicly available on an Amtrak website.

In addition, the Government Accountability Office must submit a report to Congress describing Amtrak's progress in implementing each FBWG report recommendation.

Bill 119 hr 265, also known as the Amtrak Food and Beverage Improvement Act, aims to improve the food and beverage service provided by Amtrak, the national passenger rail service in the United States. The bill proposes an amendment to title 49 of the United States Code, which would require Amtrak to submit an annual report to Congress detailing the implementation of specific recommendations made by the Amtrak Food and Beverage Working Group.

The Working Group was established to identify ways to enhance the quality and efficiency of food and beverage offerings on Amtrak trains. The annual report mandated by this bill would provide Congress with insight into the progress made by Amtrak in implementing these recommendations.

In addition to requiring the annual report, the bill also includes provisions for other purposes related to improving the food and beverage service on Amtrak trains. This legislation is aimed at ensuring that passengers have access to high-quality and efficient food and beverage options while traveling on Amtrak. Overall, Bill 119 hr 265 seeks to hold Amtrak accountable for implementing improvements to its food and beverage service, ultimately enhancing the overall passenger experience on the national rail service.
