Consumer and Fuel Retailer Choice Act of 2023

This bill amends the Clean Air Act to address the limitations on Reid Vapor Pressure (a measure of gasoline's volatility) that are placed on gasoline during the summer ozone season. Specifically, the bill applies the waiver for Reid Vapor Pressure requirements that are applicable to gasoline blended with 10% ethanol (E10) to gasoline blended with more than 10% ethanol. This change allows gasoline that is blended with more than 10% ethanol to be sold year round.

Bill 118 hr 1608, also known as the Consumer and Fuel Retailer Choice Act of 2023, is a piece of legislation currently being considered by the US Congress. The main goal of this bill is to promote competition in the fuel market by allowing consumers and fuel retailers to have more choices in the types of fuels they use and sell.

One of the key provisions of the bill is the removal of certain restrictions that currently limit the types of fuels that can be sold at retail fuel stations. This would allow for a greater variety of fuels, such as ethanol blends, biodiesel, and other alternative fuels, to be available to consumers. This is intended to give consumers more options when it comes to choosing the type of fuel that best suits their needs and preferences.

Additionally, the bill aims to promote the use of renewable fuels and reduce the country's dependence on traditional fossil fuels. By expanding the availability of alternative fuels, the bill seeks to encourage the development and use of cleaner and more sustainable energy sources. Overall, the Consumer and Fuel Retailer Choice Act of 2023 is focused on increasing competition in the fuel market, providing consumers with more choices, and promoting the use of renewable fuels. If passed, this legislation could have a significant impact on the way fuel is bought and sold in the United States.
