Simplifying Grants Act of 2022

This bill sets forth procedures for simplifying the grant process for nonurbanized areas, for both existing and new grant programs.

Each agency must make publicly available a checklist for covered local governments with respect to each grant program of the agency for which such governments are otherwise eligible that includes each requirement for every step of the grant process.

The Office of Management and Budget must report to Congress (1) within 270 days of this bill's enactment, evaluating the extent to which agencies have simplified the requirements and made the checklist available; and (2) each April 1st, evaluating the amount of technical assistance provided and the amount of funds awarded.

Bill 117 hr 9148, also known as the Simplifying Grants Act of 2022, aims to streamline the process for applying for and receiving federal grants. The bill seeks to reduce the administrative burden on grant applicants and recipients by simplifying the application process and eliminating unnecessary paperwork.

One of the key provisions of the bill is the establishment of a single, centralized website where grant applicants can find information on all available federal grants and submit their applications. This website will also provide resources and guidance to help applicants navigate the grant application process more easily.

Additionally, the bill includes measures to standardize reporting requirements for grant recipients, making it easier for them to comply with reporting obligations and reducing the risk of errors or discrepancies in reporting. Overall, the Simplifying Grants Act of 2022 aims to make the process of applying for and receiving federal grants more efficient and user-friendly, ultimately helping to ensure that federal grant funds are distributed in a timely and effective manner.
