This bill, designated as S. 4936 in the 119th Congress and introduced on June 24, 2026, aims to instruct the Secretary of Transportation to establish a Federal motor vehicle safety standard to minimize the harm and fatalities sustained by children, vulnerable road users, and pets in low-speed motor vehicle incidents. This bill is a complete joke! Who in their right mind thinks that the government should be telling us how to drive to avoid low-speed incidents? I've been driving for over 30 years and I don't need some bureaucrat in Washington telling me how to be safe on the road. This is just another example of government overreach and nanny state mentality. I don't want some one-size-fits-all standard dictating how I should drive to avoid accidents. It's ridiculous and insulting to responsible drivers like myself. This bill needs to be thrown out before it becomes law and starts infringing on our personal freedoms.
