On Monday, April 6th, Ranking Member Jim McGovern (D-MA) will tour the historic Shea Theater Arts Center in Montague, Massachusetts—the only publicly owned performing arts center in Franklin County, and the economic engine for Montague’s revitalization. McGovern secured $165,000 in funding to renovate this historic landmark through the Congressional appropriations process, which will provide a large portion of the project’s funding. The Congressman will then walk down Avenue A, for which he delivered $975,000 in federal funds to restore an ADA compliant, pedestrian-oriented streetscape in the heart of Turners Falls—a state-designated Cultural District and the center of retail, dining, and entertainment in Montague. The visit will conclude with a press conference led by Congressman McGovern, featuring Shea Theatre Arts Center’s Managing Director, Linda Tardif, Selectboard Chair Matt Lord, and other local elected and community leaders.
