This resolution, designated as S.Res. 670 in the 119th Congress and introduced on April 15, 2026, supports the goals and ideals of the 2026 Day of Silence to draw attention to anti-LGBTQI+ bullying, harassment, discrimination, and victimization in schools. It calls on communities nationwide to take action by advocating for equal educational opportunities, civil rights protections, and freedom from erasure, especially for LGBTQI+ youth in K-12 educational settings.

I support this resolution because LGBTQI+ students deserve to feel safe and accepted in schools. Bullying and discrimination have no place in education. It's time for communities to step up and protect all students. Did you know that the Day of Silence was first organized in 1996 by a group of students at the University of Virginia?
