BEATTY: Thank you, Mr. Chairman. Let me respond by saying, you are absolutely right that we are here to represent those who are poor. And just as you may do those attacks that are outside of PATH and you may think related, let me tell you about nutrition, that we stand with poor folks when we talk about taking $20.5 billion out of the farm bill. Let's talk about the war on women. Let's talk about economy and housing... (CROSSTALK) DUFFY: I will reclaim my time. I'll reclaim my time. I'll talk about SNAP all day long. Where we care about... BEATTY: You asked me about... (CROSSTALK) BEATTY: Now, if you're going to dish it out... DUFFY: ... I'll reclaim my time. Oh, I'll give it back. Let me tell you what. BEATTY: It's fine if you're going to dish it out. DUFFY: I care -- we care about putting food on the -- on the plates of kids who've fallen upon hard times in America, families that need help, who need a helping hand up. We want to help those very people. But what we've said is, listen, when we have people who are abusing the programs, people who shouldn't be on the programs, we're trying to get them off. But to come here today and say we don't care about kids who can't eat, who don't have food on their tables, that is misguided, that's misrepresenting. And the very people who need the help of the SNAP program that you reference are the very people who will be hurt if these programs go bankrupt. So let's join together and take the people who -- who don't belong in the program out so we can guarantee the program for kids and needy people in America. With that, I would yield back to the chairman. HENSARLING: The question is on agreeing to the amendment. All those in favor... CAPUANO: Mr. Chairman? Mr. Chairman? I'd like to move to strike the last word. HENSARLING: The gentleman from Massachusetts recognized for five minutes. CAPUANO: Mr. Chairman, I -- it took me a little -- it took a little longer than I thought to get into Obamacare today. (LAUGHTER) But now that we're there, I'd really like to yield my time to the gentlelady from Ohio, because I think she has something very thoughtful and insightful to say. BEATTY: Thank you, Mr. Chairman. Thank you for yielding. And let's talk about Obamacare. When we talk about young -- when we talk about 26-year-olds who can stay on their parents' insurance, those same young folks who go back and contribute to our economy, and let's go back to SNAP, as you were saying those people who need it most. In my district, it's the people who grow corn, because, see, those corn folks who were with us, those corn farmers who were with us, because they provide corn to Kroger's and other stores who then benefit from those people who receive SNAP to go and help those small farmers. And when we think about Obamacare and we think about women who happen to make up a larger percentage in the workforce who contribute, who are homeowners and who buy homes, they're also the same women who now can go get a mammogram without being charged a deductible. So when we talk about children, when we talk about women, when we talk about families, we know America does better when women do well. And so when we talk about homeowners, bringing it back to PATH, when we talk about homeowners and women who provide for children, we're only saying to you, we have some options in a bipartisan spirit for you to consider. Now, you may vote no all day and stretch it beyond PATH, but when we started this, our chairman said, we hope that you have ideas and platforms and opportunity. So I give you something that I think many of the American people stand with us on. Now, you may vote it down, but you cannot say that we were not hear to give a voice for those who are voiceless and that we did not have ideas. I don't expect you to agree with them. I simply have a right as a member to offer them. And I thank you for your comments. (APPLAUSE)
