GATE Act of 2025
3/29/2025, 2:23 AM
Summary of Bill S 929
Bill 119 s 929, also known as the "National Laboratories Foreign Nationals Prohibition Act," aims to prevent certain foreign nationals from gaining access to US National Laboratories. The bill states that individuals from countries deemed to be a national security threat by the US government will be prohibited from working or conducting research at these laboratories.
The purpose of this legislation is to safeguard sensitive information and technologies that are developed and housed within these National Laboratories. By restricting access to individuals from potentially hostile nations, the bill seeks to protect US national security interests and prevent the unauthorized transfer of sensitive information to foreign entities.
The bill does not specify which countries are considered to be national security threats, leaving this determination to the discretion of the US government. It also does not provide any exceptions or waivers for individuals who may have legitimate reasons for working at these laboratories. Overall, Bill 119 s 929 is aimed at strengthening the security protocols at US National Laboratories and ensuring that only individuals who do not pose a threat to national security are granted access to these facilities.

I can't believe this new bill is actually happening! I just read about this GATE Act of 2025 and I am so excited about the potential it has to boost our economy and create more jobs. It's about time we focus on strengthening our national security and protecting our borders. But I wonder, how will this bill impact us in the short term?
