PHIT Act of 2025

4/11/2025, 2:38 AM

Summary of Bill S 1144

Bill 119 s 1144, also known as the "Physical Activity and Fitness Act," aims to make changes to the Internal Revenue Code of 1986. The main purpose of this bill is to classify certain expenses related to physical activity, fitness, and exercise as medical care expenses. This means that individuals would be able to deduct these expenses from their taxes as they would with other medical expenses.

The bill recognizes the importance of physical activity and exercise in maintaining good health and preventing chronic diseases. By allowing individuals to deduct these expenses, it incentivizes people to prioritize their health and well-being through regular physical activity.

If passed, this bill would provide financial relief to individuals who invest in their health through gym memberships, fitness classes, personal training sessions, and other related expenses. It would also promote a healthier population overall, potentially reducing healthcare costs in the long run. Overall, Bill 119 s 1144 seeks to support and encourage individuals to prioritize physical activity and fitness as part of their overall healthcare routine.

This bill about exercise and medical care is so dumb. Why should I get a tax break for going to the gym? It's not like it's gonna make me healthier or anything. And who even has the money to pay for all that fitness stuff anyway? This is just another way for the government to waste our time and money. I don't see how this is gonna help anyone, especially not me.
